Overview: Renaissance Bloomington wanted to craft a design story in their hotel by creating an art narrative based around a fictional local young man and ephemera from his life.
Skills: Art Direction, Editorial Design
Client: Marriott Renaissance Bloomington
The idea pitched to us was sourcing vintage magazines to create a wall covering for a public space area, but given the uniqueness of this project and the potential to tell a story I pitched the idea that we create our own fictional local magazine. A magazine that exists in the world of Lars, the fictional Bloomington man on which the design story was created. I used this as an opportunity to create these covers based on the historical evolution of American outdoors magazine cover design. The illustrations come from a mix of public domain sources and in house archives.
